About Me and The Site

about me and the site

Hey, my name is Steven and I am the writer, inexperienced comic artist, and the creator behind Human Explosion.

You clicked this because you wanted to find out something about me right? Well let me start off by sharing this:

For the past several years I’ve been stuck in a cycle of extreme unhappiness (I won’t share the painfully long details) which led me into being diagnosed as depressed. I’m not proud of what I experienced, but I don’t regret a single second of it. Because if it wasn’t for the depression, I wouldn’t have realized how to get rid of it, in other words, I wouldn’t have been motivated to learn how to be happy.

Being in a bad situation certainly taught me how to appreciate the good ones. I eventually got out of depression without any medications and now I am proud to state that I am a happy individual.

From my experience, let me tell you straight off the bat, it DID NOT involve me telling myself to be constantly positive in the head to become happy. Which is why telling a depressed person “just don’t think about it and be happy!” is completely pointless.

For me, it was a decision and commitment to be happy. I did everything that I could to keep up that decision and commitment. Eventually, it became a part of me rather than a choice. Sadness just became a smaller choice to me later on:     sadness or happiness

Don’t get me wrong though, I am not saying that becoming happy is a hard thing to do. Because the truth is that we are all happy underneath, we are all successful underneath, we are all attractive underneath.

We all have the tools needed to make a life that is the most enjoyable. However, we also have the tools need to make a life that is the most miserable – because underneath we are also sad, failures, and ugly. In the end, we have the choices to become either one and I doubt anyone would waste their lives on choosing the latter.

How to be happy, successful and attractive? Well, it’s easy…you commit to choosing them in your life. Life doesn’t make you happy; you make your life happy.

Why Human Explosion?

I’m tired of going through the days with dead routines that make me feel like I have no outstanding emotions, in other words I won’t live my days as a zombie anymore. This is why I named this site “Human Explosion”, because to me that phrase gives me the image of human beings burst with life and colors, it gives me a feeling of liveliness and momentum .

Even though I’m young (currently 19 years old), I refuse to let myself to waste any time to live a life without much value or meaning. Living a human life is like going on a tour in another country, it’s exciting and we don’t know what to expect, so doesn’t it make sense to cherish every experience (whether good or bad) in life to the best of our abilities? Because just like a tour, a life is limited, so I’m going to take the opportunities to enjoy, appreciate, and ultimately be happy.

I also volunteer routinely at a crisis call center; with this experience I’ve really developed a broader perspective to how so many people can be unhappy about many aspects of their lives.  Therefore with my commitment to appreciate my life and my experiences as a crisis volunteer, I was inspired and motivated to create a blog to share insights that could help steer many peoples’ lives in the right direction.

I am not trying to say what I write in my posts are absolutely and perfectly true, I don’t tell people to do exactly as I say or else they won’t succeed. Everybody has their own methods of enjoying their lives, but my main goal in this site is just to share with what I’ve learned that helped me grow so much as a human being. All I can do is hope that what I write/share can help someone else just as much as it’s helped me.

Rest assured that I only put content in the site in what I believe is worth your time. I understand people nowadays have busy lives, so the time you spend on my site is greatly appreciated. Therefore I show that appreciation by only giving you what I consider as quality insight.

Why The Comics?

Well…why not? I like reading them and I like making them. They make writing posts much more fun for me and they add much humor to each long post. These simplistic stick-men drawings could also provide visual representations of the concepts I try to explain in various posts such as Mind Voice and True Voice. I’m sure they make the posts themselves more memorable too as well as more entertaining. So…if I can’t help you out at least I tried to entertain ya.

What Life View I Promote

What I generally encourage people to believe is that our moods and emotions are a result of our choice. That is the biggest belief I hold myself. I do not believe that external events determine our happiness and our true inner peace, but rather they determine what we believe they can cause us to feel.

That is why we strive to achieve/avoid certain things, because we have a “belief” about how they make us feel. Therefore, I try to express and help others to believe that they can make their own choices for being happy, and that they are in control of their emotions.

They might not be in complete control of what happens around them, but they have the complete freedom and power over how they feel within themselves, so why not feel happy?

My goal with this website is to broaden others’ perspective of life into one that could make them believe :

  • They are the director of how they feel.
  • They control what they accomplish in life.
  • They are the masters of their universe.
  • They can be just as successful as anyone that they admire.
  • It is a gift to dream big, if you dream big, you have a chance of achieving it, if you don’t, then you never will.
  • That you don’t need a reason to be happy.

Finally…

Life is still a learning process for me, but I believe it is a learning process for everyone on Earth. If you stumbled upon this page and this sentence alone, I’d invite you to read what I’ve learned from this process and share with me what you’ve learned from yours.

Because I am you and you are me, and we are everyone on Earth. We are human beings, and human beings are all the same. All we want for ourselves and for each other is happiness, don’t you agree?
